The editorial team of Journal of Applied Movement and Sport Science (JAMSS) is committed to upholding high ethical standards in scientific research publication, following the principles of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to follow these ethical guidelines.
A. Authorship
Authors must adhere to the following ethical guidelines to ensure integrity in research and publication:
Accuracy and Completeness: Provide accurate and complete details of the research performed, including sufficient information on the subject matter.
Originality: Ensure the submitted work is original and free from fraud or fabrication.
Non-Duplication: Guarantee the manuscript has not been published elsewhere or is under review by another journal.
Legal Compliance: Avoid unlawful or defamatory statements in the manuscript.
Misconduct Policy: Understand and follow the journal’s misconduct policy described in Section E.
B. Editorship
Editors play a crucial role in maintaining publication ethics. They must:
Fair Judgment: Evaluate manuscripts based solely on quality, regardless of the author’s race, religion, gender, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
Timely Processing: Handle all submitted manuscripts promptly and fairly.
Decision Responsibility: Accept or reject manuscripts based on expert judgment, providing clear communication with authors, supported by reviewer comments.
Confidentiality: Ensure the manuscript and author details remain confidential during the review process.
Reviewer Selection: Respect reasonable author requests to exclude specific reviewers, but may override them if necessary for expert evaluation.
C. Reviewer Responsibilities
The peer-review process ensures the quality and integrity of published research. Reviewers must:
Objective Evaluation: Assess the manuscript both scientifically and grammatically, providing clear, constructive feedback.
Confidentiality: Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
Timeliness: Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or inform the editor if delays occur.
Ethical Oversight: Notify the editor if the manuscript could pose a risk to public health or safety.
All submitted papers are checked for originality using Turnitin.
D. Conflict of Interest Policy
Authors: Disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest related to the research.
Editors: Ensure no unfair evaluation arises from relationships with authors; appoint alternative editors if necessary.
Reviewers: Promptly notify the editor of any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if required.
E. Research Misconduct Policy
Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, and improper authorship. Misconduct will result in serious consequences, such as manuscript withdrawal or retraction.
Definitions:
Fabrication: Creating false data or results.
Falsification: Manipulating research materials or data to distort findings.
Plagiarism: Using others’ ideas or work without proper attribution.
Improper Authorship: Including or excluding contributors unfairly.
Addressing Misconduct: The journal will investigate allegations, correct published records, and apply appropriate sanctions, including banning authors from future submissions.
F. Ethical Oversight
All communication and submitted articles are confidential. For animal research, authors must follow institutional and national guidelines to minimize harm.
G. Intellectual Property
Disclaimer: The views expressed in published articles are solely those of the authors.
Copyright: Authors are responsible for securing permission to use copyrighted material.
Publishing Platform: JAMSS uses the Open Journal System for management and open-access publishing.
H. Post-Publication: Discussion and Corrections
Authors can contact the Editor-in-Chief for complaints, appeals, or objections. Articles may be retracted for scientific or ethical violations, with reasons provided on the journal's website.
